Fun in the sun!

Saturday we went to Sugarhouse Park and had a picnic, which was something we hadn't done in... well, never!

Buhbah (AKA Jacen) was surprisingly happy to be there. He was having a grand time!

He kept trying to get ahold of the camera. But he always wants me to talk on his toy phones now, it's pretty funny.

We had some yummy sandwiches and watched the birds fly by. We were going to walk around but it got windy and I was freezing so we decided to go home early, but it was a great day to be out!

I need a break...

... and go back to this.

These are pictures of the coast of Brazil in the state of Parana, where I spend 2/3 of my summers as a child just hanging out at the beach. Now if I only had $2000 to go back and relax...

Tagged!

For this I was suppose to go to my pictures, go to the 6th folder, and then the 6th picture, post it on here, tell about it and tag six people. So here goes.

I ended up having to go to the bottom of my picture folder because I didn't have a 6th picture in my 6th folder. So it was the 6th picture folder from the bottom of the list LOL
This picture was taken when I headed over to Maternity (at IMC) after having Jacen nearly 1 year ago. Cute Sarah was taking my vitals and Susan (Elijah's mom) was holding Jacen and calling someone... As you can see, I was just staring into space thinking, "What the heck just happened in the last two hours?! I need to sleep!" I guess that's what happens when you work for 8 hrs, all while you're in labor, then go downstairs to have a baby 5 hours later! I looked like I got run over by a truck...

How many teeth?

Our baby now has 4 teeth- 2 of them broke through yesterday morning. Ouchies! They are the top right central incisor, and the top right lateral incisor. It'll help with his meat chewing ehehe
I highlighted the teeth on this diagram so you can see what I'm talking about :)

11 months old!

Jacen is now 11 months old. He weighs over 28 lbs (which leads me to believe that last month's weight was wrong, or this month's weight is wrong, but that's what my scale said!), and measures a bit over 30 1/2 inches long. He now cruises along furniture and actually learned how to crawl like a real baby! But he still goes back and forth between army and regular crawling. He's also gotten very good at rearranging DVD's as you can see in the background of the first picture haha. That's his favorite pass time- mostly because he now likes to watch things fall and because he's getting bored of his toys. As far as food goes, he's eating less from the jars of food and more of what we eat. He loves everything we give him, and never makes a fuss- and never has, really. He's also about to pop a top tooth any day now. He makes kissy noises (especially at girl babies!) and does this cute thing where he brings his hands up to his mouth and waves at us with them. It's so fun! One fun this he's learned to do just in the past couple of days is point to the right person in a family picture. We say "Where's mama?" and he points to me, or we say "Where's dada?" or "Where's baby Jacen?" and he points to Elijah or the baby, respectively. And if he gets them all right we say "Yay!!" and he claps. So funny!
He'll be 1 year old in the next month, and here are a few things we'll be doing for this big transition:
- Wean him off his bottle and switch to a sippy cup, which he already drinks out of for meals, but now we have to do it for milk;
- Wean him off of formula and switch to whole milk. That should take a couple of weeks;
- Begin introducing him to potty training, as well as switching him from disposable diapers to cloth diapers once he turns 1.
So as you can see we have a lot to do in the next month or so! We still can't believe he's almost one. It seemed just like yesterday when he was born....
