Valentine's Day in the gutter.

Elijah and I had planned to go to a movie (that's because we have free movie tickets, otherwise there was no way we could do it) yesterday afternoon while my mom watched Jacen for us. We figured we'd go in the afternoon after I woke up because I had worked the whole night before.
So as I was leaving the hospital that morning, I was crossing the street to get to the parking lot, and it was snowing. As soon as I was about to step onto the sidewalk, I slipped (mind you, both my legs left the ground at that terrifying moment), and fell HARD on my bottom. My backpack was probably the only thing that saved me from getting knocked out and getting a broken tailbone.
I tried to get up on my own but I was in too much pain to do it myself, and turns out there was NO ONE leaving the hospital at that time, so I layed there and cried for a few minutes, while the snow accumulated on my face. Eventually a good samaritan that was driving down the street saw me laying on the gutter and stopped to help me up. I praised the heavens!
Because I couldn't sit down for the rest of the day, we didn't go on a date :( I spent most of the day in bed hurting. But it felt better to stand, so I decided to make Hawaiian Meatballs on Rice for dinner, and it was very yummy (thanks to Nikki's recipe)! And then after we put Jacen to bed, we watched Wall-E. What a cute movie!
We sure hope everyone else had a better Valentine's Day than we did- mine was partly spent in the gutter.

10 months old!

*Sigh*... Jacen is now 10 months old. He's definitely not much of a baby anymore (like another fellow blogger of mine pointed out eheh). He loves to stand to look at things, and definitely pull out all the clothes in his drawers.
He doesn't really pull himself up all the way, but he does pull himself up to kneeling position. He's really good at saying "dada" and sometimes says "mum" and "up". He claps and waves hi and bye-bye. It's adorable!

Elijah obviously had to pull out the jersey today because BYU is playing Air Force in men's basketball. So the little one had to be ready! It's size 18-months and it fits him well, he's mostly wearing 18 months-2T clothes. Today he weighed 24.4 lbs and measured 30 1/2 inches long. He did lose a little bit of weight because last week he got the flu and he didn't eat much. That was the first time he's ever been sick (besides his 7-week long newborn jaundice), and although he was sick and clingy, he was still a very happy baby. We couldn't have asked for a better baby!

Crawling vs. Scooting

We have a mobile baby, ladies and gentlemen! It's not really crawling, but he's getting around. He loves to go to his room and open the drawer and pull out his clothes, then to the kitchen and open the drawer there to pull towels out. It's funny! And you all know I'm not a procrastinator, but for some strange reason I decided to put off on baby proofing the house because he wasn't going to crawl for a LONG time. Well, saturday it just "clicked" for him, and he decided to get around. Now I'm scrambling to get things baby-proofed. Yikes!
(Sorry the video is so dark, we didn't think to turn the lights on while recording. ehehe)

9 months old!

I've been neglectful of this blog lately, so I wanted to update it real quick before Jacen turns 10 months... well, he only turned 9 months old on the 10th and I didn't want to forget to put up the pictures.
He's been so fun lately. He said "DADA!" this past sunday, and waved "bye-bye" to grandma the day before. He's growing up so fast, I can't believe it!
He weighed an amazing 24 lbs 9oz (94th percentile), and measured 30 1/4 inches (96th percentile) at his 9-month check up on monday. Dr. Witt was amazed at how well he's been doing, and said that's "as good as a baby will get". We've been so blessed to have a GREAT baby, laid back and not picky about anything- including his food.

Now that he's got not only 1 but 2 teeth, it's easier for him to eat fingerfoods. He loves peas, carrots, pieces of bread, puffs, raisins, etc... He's done the teething biscuits and yogurt melts (which he LOVES), but he still chokes on them sometimes...
He's not crawling yet, but it's because he's so laid back he just happily sits wherever he's put down. He never feels the need to go anywhere else. He has achieved all his milestones he's supposed to except for crawling. But the pediatrician said not to worry about it, I mean, seriously, he's got a lot of weight to haul around!
