Some randomness :)
These are just some random pictures we took of Jacen in the last couple of days... which are just the few brief moments we've had of him not crying. He's been really cranky lately, and I can't figure out why.
He hardly ever falls asleep anywhere but in his crib, but the other day he decided he wanted to nap on the couch, which his butt up in the air. Quite cute.
Then two days ago he decided he wanted to wake up at 3:30am and didn't go back to sleep until 7am, so I took advantage of the time and made him breakfast at 6:15am (he usually doesn't wake up until 9am and eats breakfast at 10am). And he decided he also wanted to feed himself, and we ended up with a little bit of a mess.

And today we pulled out my lab goggles I used for a chemistry class up at the U a few years ago, and they are so hideous, I had to put them on Jacen and take a picture of it (I had to hold it on his face and quickly take the picture because he kept pulling them down). So he's my little future scientist!

Major changes... BIG ONES!
Then some other big news from the Little Man.... He learned to walk! He took his first real steps on the 15th but we waited to get it on tape for a few days because we wanted to make sure he wouldn't forget how to do it overnight LOL So we're very excited because it means we can quit carrying the 28 pounder around our house, and I'm sure our downstairs neighbors will appreciate less noise :)

My new haircut :)
I cannot believe it!
We are finally going on vacation at the end of the month!!! I must be dreaming or something because we haven't travelled in AGES. I swear the last time we travelled was when we were still going through an Ice Age... well, really, it was 3 1/2 years ago- I only remember it because we travelled with our good friends Clint and Lisa to southern CA for our 1st anniversary and stayed with Elijah's parents. They always provide room and board for us whenever we get away, and this time, we're going to stay with them in Washington DC!!! I'm so thrilled! And the best thing: we'll be there for the 4th of July! There is no better place in the country to be at than there!
There was absolutely NO WAY I was going to fork out $300-400 per plane ticket to travel, and it just happened the other day Travelocity had tickets for $148/ticket so I snatched them immediately. I was so impressed- I didn't know we could even pick our seats! And knowing me, who has always wanted to be a flight attendant- obviously had to pick window seats for every plane ride. But one day I just may become a flight attendant as a side job, just for the heck of it. I'll be a doctor AND a flight attendant. I love to fly, and hope to do it frequently!
I'm really writing because I am so nervous of flying with Jacen. See, I'm a cheapskate when it comes to money and it was cheaper to take Jacen on our lap, so I didn't buy a seat for him. Which means he'll be grumpy. And our flight between Dallas and DC will be really long and will only arrive at 1am, and I'm not really sure what to do about him sleeping. Or entertainment for him. So I ask: has anyone ever travelled with a 1 yr old? And what did you do for entertainment? I'm taking any tips, including names of drugs to give him to make him sleep- ok, ok, I'm just kidding, I don't know whether or not I'd go that far, but if anyone knows of anything let me know!!!

His first haircut.... MWAAHHHH!!!!
As you can see, this is Jacen as a 24 hr old baby. He didn't have much hair at birth, which was fine. He had more on the sides and back of his head than on top (that would be because he rubbed his head on top of my bladder constantly). Then he got the infamous bald spot on the back of his head that took 6 months for hair to start growing back. The haircut didn't turn out bad for someone who had never done it before. The problem with his hair is that he doesn't grow hair evenly throughout his head, so it looks choppy. I need more practice with contouring the edges, but the main areas were ok.
